Jan Roberts-Breslin is a media artist whose video works have won awards at international and domestic festivals, been broadcast on PBS and exhibited at major contemporary art museums, such as ICA Boston and the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Her work has explored such issues as post-feminist domesticity, the subjectivity of history and the perception of risk. Recent work includes an interpretation of common proverbs and an ironic attempt to use census questions as a means to accept age and mortality. She is a Professor in the Department of Visual and Media Arts and Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at Emerson College in Boston and Visiting Scholar at the Communications University of China in Beijing. She is the author of Making Media: Foundations of Sound and Image Production (Focal Press, 2003, 2007, 2012, 2018) and has an M.F.A. in Film and Video Production from Temple University, Philadelphia.
